You join groups about things you care about and talk in their chats. When you get on with someone, you send a friend request, and it only goes through if they accept. Your home feed shows your friends’ posts, newest first, and posts from their friends when the audience is set to Friends of friends.

Public and private groups, each with posts and a chat. Direct messages with photos, GIFs and reactions. Events you can RSVP to, live audio rooms, and short videos called reels. A profile with your pronouns and identity labels, picked from a list or written by you.

There’s no swiping through people. You meet people by talking in groups, chats, events and audio rooms, and become friends if you both want to. If dates are what you’re after, a dating app will suit you better.

You can block people and report posts, comments, messages and profiles. A report about something in a group goes to that group’s admins first, and serious reports, or any left for 48 hours, go to the Luney team. A person decides every report. Screenshots and screen recordings of Luney come out black, and App Lock puts a PIN on the app. The Open book publishes the moderation numbers.
