Post a meetup, a watch party or a pride plan, and people answer Going, Maybe or Can’t. Public events are on the Events screen for everyone on Luney, and a group’s events are only for its members.

How events work

Public events and group events
Anyone can post a public event, and it shows on the Events screen for everyone on Luney. A group event is only seen by that group’s members, and only they can RSVP.

Where it happens
An event has a start time, and can have an end time, a description and a place. The place is whatever the host types: an address, a venue or “online”. For something happening right now, there are live audio rooms: you raise your hand to talk and the host invites you up.

Who can see who’s going
You answer Going, Maybe or Can’t. Anyone who can see the event can see who’s going, with the host first: for a public event that’s anyone on Luney, and for a group event it’s the group’s members. The host gets a notification the first time you answer Going or Maybe.

Before you go
The host sees everyone who RSVPs. You can block or report people from their profile, as anywhere on Luney, and a group’s admins can remove someone from the group. If you’re meeting people you don’t know yet, start a Date Check-in in Settings › Safety › Date Check-in: if you haven’t tapped “I’m safe” by the time you set, your Trusted Circle gets an alert.
Common questions
Does Luney have LGBTQ+ events?
Yes. Public events are on the Events screen, and groups post events for their members on the group’s Events tab. You can RSVP to each one and see who’s going.
Can I host my own event?
Yes. For a public event, tap Create event on the Events screen. For an event only a group’s members see, tap Create event on the group’s Events tab. You need the Create events permission in that group.
Does Luney track my location for events?
No. Luney never asks for your phone’s location. An event only shows the place its host typed in.
