Panic Mode

For when someone grabs your phone. Tap the Me tab a few times in a row and Luney swaps itself for a working calculator. Type your PIN and press = to come back. There is no confirmation dialog, and nothing on screen suggests something is hidden. If you do not check back within five minutes, your Trusted Circle is alerted.

App Lock

A PIN on the app itself, separate from your phone lock. It locks when you open Luney and after the app has been in the background. It keeps working offline and syncs across your devices, so you set it once.

Closet Mode and Stealth Mode

Closet Mode hides your activity from everyone outside your Circle, for people who are out to some and not to others. Stealth Mode turns off read receipts and makes you invisible online. Each is one switch under Privacy, and you can also hide from search entirely.

Trusted Circle

Up to five friends who agree to be there for you. They have to accept, and either side can leave at any time. Panic Mode and Date Check-In use the same circle, so you set it up once.

Date Check-In

Meeting someone new? Set a deadline from 15 minutes to 12 hours, and note who you are meeting and where if you want. If you do not tap "I'm safe" before it runs out, your Trusted Circle gets a discreet "check on them" alert with the details you chose to leave.

Capture protection

When someone screenshots your post, profile picture, group photo, DM image or reel, you are told who did it, and they see that you were told. On Android, the app blocks screenshots and screen recordings outright. On iOS, recording brings up a privacy panel, and reels carry a watermark.

People, not just tools

A person reads every report. Hate is removed with no warnings. Decisions come with written reasons and can be appealed, and the moderation numbers are published on the transparency page. A warrant canary is renewed on a schedule.

Questions, answered

What is Panic Mode on Luney?

A quick disguise. Tap the Me tab a few times and the app becomes a working calculator. Your PIN brings Luney back. If you do not check back within five minutes, your Trusted Circle is alerted.

What is Closet Mode?

A switch that hides your activity from everyone outside your Circle. It is for people who are out to some people and not to others.

Does Luney share my location?

No device location is collected. A city on your profile is typed by you and can be left empty, and an event shows only the place its host typed in.

Can someone screenshot my messages without me knowing?

Not quietly. On Android the app blocks screenshots and recordings. On iOS you get a notification naming who took the screenshot, and they see that you were told.
