How groups work

What’s inside a group
A group can have posts, a chat, events and its own custom emojis, and every group has a member list. The people who run it write numbered rules, set a welcome message new members see when they join, make roles with their own permissions, and can have people request to join and answer a few questions first.

Public or private
Anyone can find and join a public group. A private group is invite-only and doesn’t show up in search, and its invite links can be revoked. In both, only members see the posts and the chat.

Who handles reports
When someone reports something in a group, the group’s admins see it first. Serious reports go straight to the Luney team, and so does any report left for 48 hours. Admins can set automod filters, and their moderation actions go in the group’s audit log.

Starting a group
Give it a name, an emoji and a description, choose public or private, and add rules if you want them. Then invite people with a link, and post events members can RSVP to.

What kinds of communities are on Luney?
Members start the groups, so it depends on who’s on the app. A group can be about anything: an identity, a city, a hobby, a fandom, a support topic. Each group can carry up to eight tags, which help you find the ones you want.
How are communities kept safe?
Admins run their own group with roles, automod filters and an audit log. Reports go to them first, and to the Luney team when they’re serious or left for 48 hours. A person decides every report. Public groups also follow Luney’s group rules, which ban transphobia, biphobia and homophobia and don’t allow adult content.
