What we won’t do
Eight things we’ve promised never to do, however big Luney gets.
We won’t sell your data
Your email address, messages, group chats and photos aren’t for sale, not to advertisers, data brokers or anyone else. Some companies store or deliver them for us, like the one that hosts our database. The privacy policy names the main ones and what each one holds, and Settings, About Luney, Credits in the app lists the services Luney runs on.
We won’t track you across other apps
Luney has no ad networks and no analytics tools that tell other companies what you do, and it never asks for your phone’s advertising ID. Google’s Firebase does send our notifications and collect crash reports, and the privacy policy says exactly what a crash report contains.
We won’t charge for the basics
Groups, group chats, messages, events, posts and reels are free, and they’ll stay free. VIP is an optional monthly or yearly subscription for extras, like an animated avatar, a styled display name and bigger uploads.
We won’t nag you to come back
Luney doesn’t send “you haven’t opened the app in a while” notifications. You pick which kinds of notification you get, and you can change them for each group. Quiet hours hold them for the window you set and send one summary when it ends, and Take a break pauses them for a set time, from an hour to a week.
We won’t build the feed to keep you scrolling
The home feed shows posts newest first, and when you reach the last one it says “You’re all caught up”. If you like, a daily time reminder tells you when you’ve spent as long in the app as you meant to. It counts the time on your phone and never sends it to us.
We won’t leave moderation to a machine
When Luney moderates your account, a person makes the decision. Automated signals help moderators decide what to look at first.
When Luney staff warn you, suspend you, limit what you can do or remove something you posted, you’re told, and it shows up in Settings, Account Activity. You can appeal most decisions from there.
We won’t change who Luney is for
Luney is for LGBTQIA+ people, it’s made by queer people, and allies can join too. We won’t turn it into an app for everyone just to grow faster.
We won’t ignore you
A person reads every email to [email protected], every support ticket and every report.
