Warrant canary
Some legal demands come with an order not to talk about them. A warrant canary works around that: for each period, we publish a statement of the kinds of legal demand we have not received. If a statement isn’t renewed, or a line disappears from it, draw your own conclusions. We will never put anything untrue on this page.

Signing key
We sign each statement with a key that lives on a hardware token and is used for nothing else. The public half is at /canary.asc, and this is its fingerprint:
F72A 0EEB 52D2 E2F4 93C3 F2C7 281E C435 EBA5 5A81
Keep a copy of the fingerprint somewhere you trust. If a later statement is signed with a different key, and no signed handover explains the change, treat it as if the statement were missing.
Plain-text copy
There’s a plain-text copy at /canary.txt for monitoring tools and archives to watch. How we handle legal requests in general is in our legal process policy, and how many we get is in our Open book.
